The single cell tandem dumper was the first of its kind ever to be fabricated, and represented a significant achievement for our company and a testament to the innovation and skill of our workforce. The project received an award from the Australian Steel Institute and Civmec was subsequently commissioned to fabricate a further two tandem dumpers.

Civmec’s highly skilled multidisciplinary team undertook the complex fabrication, machining and assembly of the 450-tonne units. Overhead cranage capability enabled the 180-tonne bare cage to be lifted and transferred (80 metres) onto the stillage ready for shop assembly of further components. The rotating machine has an operating lifespan of 30 years and has been welded to AS1554.5 for extreme fatigue structures.
