Civmec’s significant scope on this iconic project included the supply and erection of key elements of the stadium structure, including the structural frame and roof trusses and various precast elements, including installation of the seating platforms.
We undertook the fabrication, surface treatment and installation of over 15,500 tonnes of structural steel work that comprised the entire stadium superstructure. The structural steel, which totalled 12,800 individual pieces, features a polyaspartic three coat paint system, with 70% of the steel exposed.
We installed 4,200 precast concrete seating platforms which span onto the steel structure and act as the viewing platform upon which the seating was installed. We also supplied and installed over 3,000 precast concrete step units for the concrete seating and installed 88,000m2 of Bondek permanent formwork for the construction of the suspended slabs located behind the seating areas.
Civmec received the Civil Contractors Federation WA Earth Award for Excellence in Civil Construction for the project in September 2018.
